Naughty or Nice

There are two kinds of couples on a wedding day. First there's the kind that that are going to be nice, reserved and gentle when it comes time to cut the cake and feed it to one another, and then there is the naughty kind that require far more adjectives to fully describe. Kim and Tony were with out a doubt the latter. I think Tony started out trying to be classified as part of a nice couple, delicately placing a bite of wedding cake into his new wife's mouth, but Kim would have no part of being anything other than naughty :-) She went big with her cake to Tony's face and from there it was a knock-down, drag-em-out cake war that ended with a bride on the ground and bright red frosting in her hair. Talk about a photo opp! If a marriage can survive that with smiles, I think they're good to go!

Kim and Tony's lovely day and cake battle was at the Lumber Baron Inn in Denver, an old B and B in a residential neighborhood with a whole lot of history and just as much charm.

Congratulations Kim and Tony!

Wingtipped Style

Where did this past week go? I can't believe that it's already been nine days since my last blog post! I've been so busy cleaning up the craziness of my September and returning emails and phone calls for 2011 weddings, that the time to blog again has come sooner than I expected.

At a small Catholic Church, nestled into a neighborhood on the north end of Old Town Fort Collins, Mindy and Craig said their vows to one another. Craig and all of his groomsmen wore black and white wing tipped dress shoes that were nothing short of absolutely RAD! And Mindy wore a huge smile that can grab anyone; it was such a pleasure to capture. The celebration was a shorter, mid-day event, so the tale of Mindy and Craig's big day is more of an abbreviated one... But wonderful all the same!

Congratulations Mindy and Craig!!

Liz and Jared Go Bra!

Saturday in Manitou Springs. Sunday in Laramie. KWP was a road-tripping crew Labor Day Weekend!

Liz and Jared's wedding in Laramie was filled with so much tradition, but not in the traditional wedding sense... 30+ years ago, Liz's parents were married in the same church as Liz and Jared and then had their reception at the same country club that Liz and Jared invited their guest to to celebrate their new life together. It was so much fun to be a part of such special day and to hear Liz's mom talk about how much it meant to her to have her only daughter get married in the same fashion as herself.

Both Liz and Jared come from families with a very strong sense of Scottish heritage (could have been Irish, but I think I am correct with Scottish... sorry you two!), so Jared donned a traditional kilt, the fathers both wore their ancestral plaid and a bagpiper with one heck of a set of lungs greeted guests as they entered the church.

It was a whirlwind, end of summer weekend, but I wouldn't have had it any other way!
